The ketogenic diet or simply the keto diet for short, is a very well-known diet regimen that has shown positive results when used for short term weight loss.Ā 

 

The ketogenic diet was first used by a man named Russel Wilder in 1921 to treat epilepsy, especially in infants and adolescents, in the year 1921. It continued to be the mainstream treatment until the introduction of anti-epileptic drugs nearly a decade later.

 

However, the ketogenic diet has become more popular as of late due to the findings that it causes rapid weight loss and can be successfully maintained on a short term basis at least (reports indicate up to a period of 2 years).

Anywhere from 2-3 weeks to 6-12 months is ideal and supported by literatureĀ as well. And this of course would also be dependent upon the personā€™s history with illness, environment, and other relatable factors.Ā Ā
