Hey guys! Before we get into The Top 21 Best Keto Recipes chosen by doctors we want to talk a little about the keto diet.

The ketogenic diet or simply the keto diet for short, is a very well-known diet regimen that has shown positive results when used for short term weight loss.

The ketogenic diet was first used by a man named Russel Wilder in 1921 to treat epilepsy, especially in infants and adolescents, in the year 1921. It continued to be the mainstream treatment until the introduction of anti-epileptic drugs nearly a decade later.

However, the ketogenic diet has become more popular as of late due to the findings that it causes rapid weight loss and can be successfully maintained on a short term basis at least (reports indicate up to a period of 2 years).

Personally, I recommended recipes that I myself would eat and/or share with friends, family, and patients. It’s important for me to state that I do not believe, given the lack of long term evidence supporting the ketogenic diet, in maintaining this diet over a longer period of time.

Anywhere from 2-3 weeks to 6-12 months is ideal and supported by literature as well. And this of course would also be dependent upon the person’s history with illness, environment, and other relatable factors.

I have selected recipes that you can not only make and devour while on a ketogenic diet but overall are healthy and can be enjoyed by all, young and old.

The Top 21 Best Keto Diet Recipes Picked By Doctors!

1.Easy Eggless Salmon Patties via mommys home cooking

Salmon is a great source of healthy omega 3 fatty acids and protein. And because when on a keto diet you need all the fat and protein that you can get (in order to compensate for the lack of carbs that you can consume), this is a premium recipe with all the right ingredients. Plus if you are allergic to eggs or simply prefer not to eat them, that’s not a problem with this one!

2. Healthy Shrimp Scampii via Well Plated

Zoodles (noodles made from zucchini in this case) are an excellent substitute for noodles that are traditionally made from flour because of their higher nutritional value and well mostly because they offer next to nothing in terms of carbs. Which is what everyone on a keto diet is seeking in a recipe. Meanwhile shrimp is a great source of protein and fat.

3. Mediterranean Roasted Cabbage Steaks with Pesto and Feta  via

Inspector Gorgeous

I did not forget about the vegetarians out there who are looking for healthy yet hearty keto recipes. Instead of using traditional meat in this recipe you use roasted cabbage that is sliced into “steaks” and add ingredients like pesto, feta, and fresh basil for an authentically delicious meal.
